Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to most of the questions you may have. If you require more information please do not hesitate to contact us.

If I need to discuss my requirements with you, what are your opening hours?

We are open from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday.

How much do you charge?

Every photograph is unique and is requires careful assessment before we can give you an accurate quote. To give you some ideas of our rates please check our example prices shown on our services page.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept most debit and credit cards, PayPal and bank transfer.

How long will it take to complete my order?

We aim to complete work within ten working days. If we expect your order to take longer we will inform you when we confirm the price. We also offer an Express Service. Please call us on 0113 827 2191 for more details.

How will my finished digital images be supplied?

Final images are supplied as a high resolution digital image – 300dpi jpeg and can be downloaded from your secure Customer Area. Other formats are available if you prefer. We also offer a wide range of printing options.

Do I pay extra for Recorded Delivery?

Any prices we quote include Recorded Delivery when returning items to you.

If I delete or lose my photo can you resend it?

All our photos are stored for a period of six months and we will resend free of charge up to that period.

Will my photos and personal information be available for anyone else to see?

No, our personal information and photos are confidential and secure. We may use restored images in our web site gallery. To protect your privacy no names will be used. If you prefer your images not to appear in our gallery please let us know.

How do I send you my photographs?

Original photos, negatives and slides can be sent by post using a service that can be tracked. Click here for advice on packaging your photos.

Digital images can be uploaded via our website (see our Scanning Guide for advice on achieving the best results from your scanner).  You will need to create an account – see Getting Started. For images larger than 10Mb please use a free upload service  such as WeTransfer.

I don't have the original photograph, can you restore slides or negatives?

Yes. We can restore from slides or negatives in most formats.

Is it only old photos you can work on?

No, we can enhance and improve any photo from improving colour and brightness to removing objects and replacing backgrounds. Call us to discuss you requirements.

Do you work with colour photographs?

Yes. We can correct colour photos as well as black and white, sepia.

Can I scan the image myself and send the file to be restored?

Yes, but the restoration is likely to be better if we can take several scans of your image using different settings on our professional scanner. If you prefer to scan the image yourself, check our Scanning Guide.

Can you only scan prints, 35mm slides and 35mm negatives?

No, we can scan most formats. We can also scan any piece of paper or card including documents and paintings etc. up to A4 in size. Contact us for more information.

How do I send you large files or multiple images (over 10Mb)?

We recommend a file transfer service such as WeTransfer. It’s free and simple to use. You simply enter our email address - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and upload your file. There is no need to register.

Will my original photographs and slides be safe?

Yes. Your originals will be scanned using a professional quality scanner. Once scanned your original is stored safely pending return.

Do you alter the original photograph?

No. We scan your original photograph to produce a high resolution digital image. We restore this scanned digital image, returning the original to you untouched.

Will you return my original photos to me?

Yes, all originals are returned.

Can you advise me on how I can improve my image?

Yes. You can either complete the enquiry form via the Contact Page or call us on 0113 827 2191. If you can upload or email your photos we'll be in a better position to tell you what can and can't be done along with giving you time scales and any costs involved.

Can you enlarge a small photo or part of a photo?

Yes, although extreme enlargements can reveal defects that do not show up on the original. We will contact you if this process is likely to produce unacceptably fuzzy or poor quality results.

Can you replace missing parts of a picture?

Yes. If the missing part is an extension of the rest of the picture (such as grass, or a wall) we can probably do so from the original. Complex areas such as part of a person's face may be replaced by using more advanced techniques. If you are unsure, send us the image and we can assess it and let you know on what can be done and the related costs.

Can you make a fuzzy picture sharp?

Image definition and sharpness can be improved on some pictures within reason. However, photos that are completely out of focus with no detail cannot be improved. If you are unsure, send us the image and we can assess it and let you know on what can be done and the related costs.

Can you combine pictures or subjects?

Yes, although there are many factors that determine the end result such as lighting and background. Send all the pictures you want combined together with clear instructions about what elements are to be combined on the new picture and we will contact you to discuss.

Can you remove unwanted objects or change backgrounds?

Yes, it is usually possible to change the photo in this way depending on the complexity of the original. Send us the image and we can assess it and let you know on what can be done and the related costs.

What if I am unhappy with the final result?

Once the work is complete you will be able to view a watermarked digital proof via your Account on our website. If you are not satisfied with the result then please talk to us as we may have misinterpreted your instructions in which case we can try again at no extra cost or there may be some limitations due to the quality of the image. We do not request payment unless you are completely satisfied.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. We ask you to view the image and approve the work before we request payment. This is your guarantee. We do not request payment unless you are completely satisfied. Once you have approved the work we are unable to give you a refund.

Can you provide prints of my restored photo?

Yes. We are able to provide you with high quality prints in a range of finishes and sizes. For more details see  Printing Services .
